Detailed Itinerary – Ha Giang Loop Off-Road 3 Day 2 Night Tour
This 2-day off-road tour is crafted for true adventure enthusiasts—those who have solid motorbike skills and seek a more thrilling, hands-on experience of the Ha Giang Loop. Unlike the classic tours with easy riders, you’ll be behind the handlebars 100% of the time. Expect to navigate dirt trails, steep mountain passes, and remote valleys as you journey through hidden routes in the Dong Van Karst Plateau, a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Day 0: Hanoi – Ha Giang City
Around 7:30–8:00 PM, our sleeper bus will pick you up in Hanoi for an overnight journey to Ha Giang, arriving between 2:00–3:00 AM the next morning. If you prefer a day bus instead, just let us know and we’ll arrange it.
You’ll be dropped off at our base, Peak Home Hotel, where a free dorm bed is provided so you can rest until 8:00 AM. If you prefer more comfort, you can upgrade to a private room upon request in advance.
Day 1: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba – Yen Minh – Dong Van Town
After breakfast at 8:00 AM, your guide will brief you on the itinerary and safety procedures. You’ll prepare your gear and secure your belongings to the bikes. Large luggage can be stored at our hostel while you carry only essentials for the ride.
After about 30 minutes of riding, we’ll reach Bac Sum Pass (800m above sea level), offering a stunning panoramic view of winding roads, terraced fields, and mountain villages.
Next, we’ll head to Quan Ba Heaven Gate (1,500m elevation), a perfect place to breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the vast landscapes. Then, we continue to the Quan Ba Twin Mountains, overlooking Tam Son Town.
We’ll visit Lung Tam Village, home to the Hmong people, where you’ll see traditional hemp weaving techniques passed down through generations.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant in Lao Va Chai, offering great views of the terraced rice fields.
After lunch, the off-road adventure begins. You’ll ride on a dirt trail through Lao Va Chai commune, then pass through a forest path leading into Yen Minh Town. Exiting the town, we’ll climb towards Tham Ma Slope, but first, enjoy a 5km off-road ride through Van Chai, surrounded by rocky limestone terrain and cornfields.
After a scenic stop at Tham Ma Viewpoint, we’ll visit the Hmong King’s Palace (Vuong Mansion)—a significant historical and cultural site. The day concludes at a cozy homestay in Dong Van, with a local dinner and an optional evening walk around the old town.
Day 2: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac – Mau Due – Yen Minh – Ha Giang – Bus to Hanoi
After breakfast at 8:00 AM, we head to Deo Gio, a viewpoint overlooking the Vietnam–China border. Next, you’ll descend to the Nho Que River, then follow a narrow off-road trail into Ta Lang, a traditional Giay ethnic village.
After exploring Ta Lang, you’ll ride up to Ma Pi Leng Pass, the most iconic road of Ha Giang. This 20-kilometer pass offers jaw-dropping views of the turquoise Nho Que River and the dramatic Tu San Canyon. Numerous viewpoints along the pass allow for plenty of photo opportunities.
Continuing on the M-shaped Road, a winding path connecting Meo Vac to Yen Minh, you’ll ride to Mau Due. Before reaching the lunch place, another off-road segment awaits—passing through a remote Hmong village.
In the afternoon, the journey back to Ha Giang continues via the scenic Thai An Road, with three more stops to admire:
- The peaceful Mien River,
- The picturesque Aboong Waterfall,
- And the lush green mountains of Du Gia National Park.
Finally, we arrive back in Ha Giang city around 5-6 P.M, and from there, you’ll board the sleeper bus to return to Hanoi.
